Elche

An oasis in the heart of the city, a city full of life.

Palmeral

One of the most special corners of the city of the Dama D’elx is its extensive palm grove. The city itself is a large palm grove that characterises it, a valley with more than 200,000 palm trees that dates back to the time of the Muslim conquest.

A green space where you can enjoy a pleasant stroll along the routes set up for this purpose, where you can discover the most special corners of the city.

Another must-see is the Basilica of Santa María, built between 1672 and 1784 on the site of the old great mosque, which is an emblem of the city and where the Misteri d’Elx is performed.

Stunning beaches to lose yourself on

Although the city of Alicante is 15 kilometres from the coast, it has 9 kilometres of beaches.

Within its municipal boundaries are the beaches of Arenales del Sol, El Carabassi, El Altet, El Pinet, La Marina, Les Pesqueres and El Rebollo. All of them are characterised by their fine sand, dunes and crystal clear waters.

Some of them, such as El Altet and El Carabassi, have dunes and authentic virgin areas. Others, such as Arenales del Sol, are urban beaches with all the necessary services such as restaurants, shops and bars.

Playas de Elche

Local gastronomy, full of charm and traditions

Palmeras

Summer, leisure and good weather are linked to a deep-rooted gastronomic culture that goes from figs to the famous rice with crust.

With seafood products that recreate traditional culinary specialities and that make up the Elche entity in all its variants.

From the palm trees comes its fruit, the date, which has become a local emblem and from which renowned chefs, both local and national, design luxury tapas, liquors of the land that combine our cheeses and our sausages or simply innovate in most restaurants to offer market cuisine and the relevance of local produce in their proposals.
